Processes Monitoring

The Monitoring section offers the possibility to visualize the list of processes currently existing on the 4P platform as well as tools to control them.

../_images/monitoring-processes.png

Each process is organized in a table, ordered by Start date showing the following information:

  • Macro: the name and link toward the macro that was used to run the process

  • Measuring session: the session date of the original raw dataset used as an input for the process and the link toward it

  • Experiment(s): the list of experiments associated with the current dataset

  • Author: the name of the user who launched this process

  • Installation / Organization: the installation (or the organization) which the process belongs to

  • Start date: the date and time when the process was started

  • Duration: the process duration since its start date

  • Destruction: the number of days left before temporary data deletion

  • Status / Progress: the process status as well as the preview of its progression steps

  • Actions: a list of actions to control the process

Note

When a process is waiting for an available CPU core or a VM to execute one of its modules, the number of processes currently waiting before it is shown.

Photoscan queue

There is currently only 2 photoscan licenses. When a process is pending the photoscan license, an indicator is displayed with the number of processes before it.

Control a process

Several tools are available to control a process.

../_images/monitoring-processes-btn-view.png

Use the View button to open the details page of the output dataset of the current process.

../_images/monitoring-processes-btn-abort.png

Use the Cancel button to abort a currently Running or Waiting process.

../_images/monitoring-processes-btn-resume.png

Use the Resume button to resume a failed process where it stopped.

../_images/monitoring-processes-btn-restart.png

Use the Restart button to restart a failed process from the beginning.

../_images/btn-data-delete.png

Use the Delete button to delete a failed process.

Note

Only the processes belonging to the current installation can be controlled. To control a process of another installation, switch to that installation or report an issue with it.

Report a problem with a process

It might happen, for some reason, that a process belonging to another installation is stuck or causes a major issue on the platform. Since it is not possible to directly control that process, 4P offers the possiblity to contact the administrators of that installation to report to them an issue. They will then be able to manage the problem on their side.

../_images/monitoring-processes-btn-warn.png

Simply click the button Report an issue. A window shows up with information related to the current process and installation. Fill in the message with additional information and send the request to the installation administrators.

Automatic runtime data suppression

4P stores the data of running, cancelled and failed processes in a local storage volume limited in capacity. To maintain the storage capacity, an automatic cleaning is performed every night and deletes temporary process data older that 21 days.

Important

if one of your processes is about to be deleted, make sure to fix and restart it before the deadline of 21 days. After that all temporary data will be lost.
